A multi-faceted professional, Josh began his journey in the performing arts through dance. Professionally trained in ballet, tap, jazz and other dancing disciplines, Josh completed the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and exams and also performed in numerous dance productions and competitions in Canada and the USA. With dancing under his belt including teaching and choreography, Josh continued his exploration and learning as an artist by immersing himself in singing lessons, writing and recording music, picking up a couple instruments and starting a rock band with multiple gigs around town.
Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Josh’s eureka moment came at the theater while watching and enthralled with Jersey Boys, thinking, ‘Yeah, I could do that’. With this new inspiration, he pursued acting classes and performed locally in several musicals and plays, and then Josh headed to Toronto to follow his artistic passions, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance from Sheridan College; performance opportunities included Neil Sedaka/Righteous Brother/Lou Adler in Beautiful (Drayton Entertainment), Dan in Joseph (Tweed &Co.), Davey in Newsies (Sheridan), Soldier in Sunday in the Park with George (Eclipse), and ensemble in Kiss of the Spider Woman (Eclipse), Cabaret (Sheridan), Mamma Mia (St. John’s), and On the Town (Sheridan).
A caring, driven and dedicated artist, Josh thrives in collaborating with other passionate artists of all genres to create interesting and exciting artistic works and releases his music and performances on YouTube under the JPA handle. Josh is forever grateful for the diverse and creative teachers and industry professionals that continue to shape and influence his life and is looking forward to bringing all that love and experience to his artistic creations and giving back to the arts community.
